Collection: Model Railway Magnets

Reed switches activate at 10 to 100 gauss. The hobby standard for HO/OO/N scale reed triggers is 2x1, 3x1, or 4x1 mm disc magnets. They put the right amount of field at the switch without false triggers from passing rolling stock or attracting iron debris. 5x1 and 6x1 work for G scale and garden railroads where the air gap is larger.

For accessory mounts (buildings, scenery, removable rooftops), 6mm and 8mm discs hold well in foam baseboards. Reed switches sold separately, we just supply the magnets.
