What’s in the Tyranids Combat Patrol

The Tyranids Combat Patrol is the 10th-edition Warhammer 40,000 starter swarm for the Great Devourer. Thirty-two miniatures and a pre-built Combat Patrol roster — one of the highest model counts of any starter box.

Winged Tyranid Prime

The Winged Tyranid Prime kit builds with paired bone sabres or a lashwhip and bonesword. Both options share the same wrist socket, so magnetize the wrists with 2mm x 1mm disc magnets and swap melee profiles between games.

Psychophage

The Psychophage is a single-pose centerpiece — no weapon swaps. The 80mm base is the magnetization point. Use a Large Thick flush-fit magnet for the strongest hold, or three 25mm peel-and-stick magnets in a triangle on the underside.

Von Ryan’s Leapers

The Leapers are fixed single-pose models. Base magnets only.

Barbgaunts

Barbgaunts come with the barbgaunt cannon fixed to the chest mount. No weapon swaps. Base magnets only.

Termagants

The Termagant kit builds with fleshborers, devourers, or spike rifles — the same forearm joint takes any of the three. With 20 Termagants in the Combat Patrol you have two squads of 10, and the squad-level loadout matters for matchups. Magnetize the forearm with 2mm x 1mm disc magnets so each Termagant can carry the right gun for the list.

2mm magnets fit in a 2mm drill bit hole. The Large Pin Vise covers 0.5mm to 8mm bits so it carries from Termagant wrists up to Monstrous Creature joints later.

Ripper Swarms

Ripper Swarms are tiny and fixed. Base magnets only.

Character & Wargear Tab Trays

The Winged Tyranid Prime attaches to a Termagant squad as the bodyguard hero. The Character & Wargear Tab Tray slots into the parent movement tray and slides off when the Prime moves to a different unit.

Drill Bits, Glues & Polarity Tools

Magnetizing 20 Termagant wrists is the biggest job in this box. The right toolkit makes it a single afternoon.

Drill bits. The medium metric bundle covers 4mm through 6mm magnets — useful as the swarm grows into Carnifexes and Hive Tyrants.

Glue. Maxi-Cure is the thick CA superglue we use to seat magnets in plastic. Insta-Set sprays over the top to flash-cure the bond.

Polarity tool. The Magnicator V2 holds magnets in known polarity. With 20 Termagant wrists to socket, the Magnicator stops reversed-polarity glue-ups from costing you the squad.
