Chimera Magnetization Recommendations

The Astra Militarum Chimera is the workhorse transport of the Imperial Guard, and its kit gives you a stack of weapon options across the turret, hull, and pintle mount. Magnetizing it lets you swap loadouts mid-list without committing to one configuration. Use 3mm x 2mm disc magnets throughout — they sit flush in drilled mounts and hold securely on resin or plastic.

Chimera Kit — Turret, Sponson, and Hull Weapon Swaps

Turret weapons. The main turret accepts a multi-laser, heavy bolter, heavy flamer, or autocannon. Drill a 3mm hole into the rear of each weapon barrel assembly and into the turret mount. Set one magnet flush in the turret, and the matching magnet in each weapon. Mind the polarity so every barrel snaps in the same orientation.

Hull-mounted weapon. The forward hull plate fits a heavy bolter or heavy flamer. Drill into the back of the weapon mount, then slot a magnet into the hull cavity behind it. A short piece of sprue glued behind the magnet inside the hull keeps it from sliding back when you pull the weapon free.

Sponson lasgun arrays and pintle. The side sponson lasgun array glues in place on a standard build, but if you want to leave the firing ports open for a stripped Chimera or a Hellhound chassis swap, magnetize the array as a single piece. The pintle on the top hatch takes a heavy stubber or storm bolter — drill into the base of each pintle weapon and into the hatch mount for a clean swap.

Hunter-killer and dozer blade. Optional track-guard accessories also magnetize cleanly with the same 3mm x 2mm magnets, so you can run them only when the points cost is worth it.
