Carnifex Brood Magnetization Guide
The Tyrannid Carnifex Brood is one of the most adaptable organisms in the Tyranid swarm - and Old One Eye is its most infamous.
In this guide, we’re magnetizing the Tyranid Carnifex Brood so you can field both standard Carnifexes and Old One Eye without committing to a single build. I’ll walk you step-by-step through the cleanest, most reliable method for magnetizing the weapons using our magnets and tools.

Magnets Needed: Tyrannid Carnifex Brood Arms
24pcs 4mm x 2mm
Let’s start with all of the weapon options for the Tyrannid Carnifex Broods. Each Carnifex has the options of choosing the Scything Talons, Stranglehorn Cannon, Heavy Venom Cannon, Deathsplitters, Devourers, and the Crushing Claws.
To avoid any misalignment for the Stranglehorn Cannon and the Heavy Venom Cannon, we’ll only magnetize the right arm holding the cannon. The left arm that feeds ammunition to the right arm can be glued to it later. We did a similar technique with our Nemesis Dreadknight.
Let's begin by drilling into the arms, putting the Stranglehorn Cannon and the Heavy Venom Cannon off to the side for now. On the Scything Talons, Deathsplitters, Devourers, and the Crushing Claws, I drilled into the arm where the ball joint connects to the body. Using a 4mm drill bit, I slowly and carefully ensured my hole was as straight as possible and at least 2mm deep.

For my polarity, I assign all my weapons to Red on my magnicator. This is to make sure that all my weapons are hot!
After the Scything Talons, Deathsplitters, Devourers, and the Crushing Claws have a 4mm x 2mm magnet installed, I can move on to the Stranglehorn Cannon and the Heavy Venom Cannon.
We will repeat the same steps, but magnetizing only the right arm that holds the Cannons. I will not magnetize the left arm, as it can cause misalignment issues. We will glue the left arm to the right arm later.
Magnets Needed: Tyrannid Carnifex Brood Bodies
8pcs 5mm x 2mm
With all of the Carnifex Brood Bodies. I did not glue the top into place, as I need to put Green Stuff inside the body later.

Firstly, I drilled holes where the arms meet the body with a 5mm drill bit. After the four holes were drilled, I pushed a 5mm x 2mm magnet into the holes. A simple trick I do for my polarity is that my arms are blue, and my weapons are red, so that my weapons are always hot!
After I glue all of my 5mm x 2mm magnets into the body, it’s time for me to grab some Green Stuff and insert it into the body. I cover the back of the holes one at a time with Green Stuff. I push the 5mm x 2mm magnet into the Green Stuff, and with the arms that we magnetized earlier with the 4mm x 2mm, I let them connect so that my 5mm x 2mm magnet can be pushed as far as it can into the body and look seamless.

After all of my Green Stuff had cured overnight, I glued the top of the carapace on and finished the body.
Magnets Needed: Tyrannid Carnifex Brood Heads
3pcs 3mm x 2mm
For the Carnifex heads, you’ll need three 3×2 millimeter magnets. This lets you swap standard Carnifex heads, and just as importantly, it keeps the option open to build Old One Eye whenever you want, without committing the model permanently.

I simply drill into the back of the head with a 3mm drill bit after cutting off the peg and into the hole of the torso where the peg would normally be glued into.

Before I can call this finished, I filed and glued a magnet to the bottom of the base, so I can carry my Carnifex Brood in my carry case.
