Trade War & Export Ban of Neodymium Magnets
Hello everyone, this is The Magnet Baron. I wanted to let you all know what is happening with the trade war specifically affecting Magnet Baron.
There is an export ban in place from China, the country that supplies 90% of the world's Neodymium Rare Earth Super Magnets. As far as we are aware, there are no fully functional factories producing sintered magnets outside of China that are fully operational.
While there are factories in the later stages of ramping production, we are not sure when they will be able to produce magnets for us or if they will be able to handle the volume and types of magnets we need.
If or when the export ban is lifted, if the tariffs are still in place Neodymium magnets have additional tariffs on them from China due to their status as a strategic mineral as they are used in cars, wind turbines, defense manufacturing, and drones to name a few.
We are closely monitoring all of our options to ensure that we are able to continue getting you the best quality magnets and will keep this page updated as new information becomes available.
Thank you all for your understanding and we hope this trade dispute can be resolved quickly.
