Hippogriff AFV Magnetization Guide

The 2026 Astra Militarum Hippogriff armored vehicle has several weapon options in its turret. The main gun can be a Vigilator Cannon, Chiron Gatling Cannon, Melta Cannon, or a Heavy Lascannon. The turret also carries a coaxial weapon — either a Heavy Stubber or a Meltagun. This kit covers magnetizing all of them so any combination is achievable.

Tools you'll need

  • Magnicators — keep every magnet's polarity consistent so the parts always attract
  • Super glue — thin or thick cyanoacrylate
  • Clippers or a sharp blade — to remove the wedge from the back of each barrel
  • Milliput epoxy putty — optional, to reinforce the mount magnets

Coaxial Barrel

There are two coaxial weapons available to the Hippogriff. To magnetize them, remove the wedge from the back of the barrel as flush as possible. We recommend either clippers or a sharp blade.

Once you have the barrels prepped, install one 2mm × 2mm disk magnet into the center of the back of each barrel.

We have provided you with a 3D-printed alignment guide. It is sized so you can put a magnet onto the end of a Magnicator and have its height match the slot in the guide when the Magnicator is lying flush with the table top. Colors will vary.

Important: These magnets are very small and difficult to work with. Use the smallest amount of glue possible when working with the guide — we put a glue cavity in the area where the magnets meet the barrels to keep dripping to a minimum.

Hold one of the coaxial barrels in the shorter notch in the guide and push the Magnicator with magnet into contact with the barrel.

Once the glue is set, carefully remove the parts from the guide. Check the position of the magnet and adjust as necessary. You may want to reinforce with a small additional drop of glue.

Main Barrel

There are four main weapons available to the Hippogriff. To magnetize them, remove the wedge from the back of the barrel as flush as possible. We recommend either clippers or a sharp blade.

Hold one of the main barrels in the longer notch in the guide and push the Magnicator with magnet into contact with the barrel. The shape of the notch allows all four barrel designs to fit to the same depth.

Weapon Mount

The barrels are held in place by plastic parts C35 (inner mount pivot) and C39 (outer mount shield). Temporarily push them together to make the magnets easier to install.

Take one 3mm × 3mm × 3mm block magnet and attach it to a Magnicator — or use another method — to guarantee it is the same polarity as the barrel magnets.

Insert a Coaxial barrel into the appropriate spot in C35 & C39. Using the magnetic attraction from that barrel, glue the block magnet into part C39. The image below shows the magnets before insertion. Because the Main barrel's magnet is stronger than the Coaxial barrel's magnet, do the Coaxial side first.

Remove the Coaxial barrel from the assembly. Allow the glue on the first block magnet to fully set.

Insert a Main barrel into the appropriate spot in C35 & C39. Using the magnetic attraction from that barrel, glue the block magnet into part C39. Reinforce both block magnets with additional glue or putty.

Final Assembly

After the magnets are installed, complete assembly of the model as usual. All six weapon combinations are now available at any time.
