This article explains how to magnetize the Cogfort model using our magnetization kit. You will be able to use the end model as any of the Cannonade Cogfort and Conqueror Cogfort patterns available in that box.

Please follow the normal assembly instructions that come with the plastic kit; the steps below cover only the magnetization.

To keep track of magnet polarity we use a set of Magnicator tools. We refer to a magnet's polarity as "red" or "blue," after the Magnicator end that is attracted to that magnet's surface. If you do not have those tools, use another method to track polarity, for example mark one face of a large spare magnet and reference it every time you place a magnet.

This guide will allow you to fully magnetize your mighty siege engine for the glory of Sigmar!

This guide WILL require modification of the model to allow some parts to be magnetized and swappable. This will include drilling, and material removal of static parts to allow conversion between both forms of the model.

First we will start with the Cannonade variant of the Cogfort, going over all the parts that will need to be modified for proper magnetization and swapping. The Conqueror Cogfort steps follow, and reference steps from the Cannonade Cogfort as some of the steps overlap.

Tools For this guide you will need

  • Cogfort magnetization kit: every magnet and part this guide uses.
  • Thick or gel super glue, such as Maxi-Cure Plus: glues each magnet in place without running the way thin CA glue does.
  • Magnicators V2: show which face of a magnet is red or blue, so every pair attracts.
  • Needle files or sandpaper: clean up a hole or socket so the magnet sits flush.
  • Hobby knife or clippers: remove parts from the sprue and trim the areas the steps call out.
  • Drill bits, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, and 6mm: the bit sizes the steps drill with.
  • Small Hand Drill: holds bits from 1mm to 3mm and turns them by hand.
  • Large Pin Vise: holds bits from 0.5mm to 8mm and turns them by hand.
  • Drill Bit Small Metric Bundle: supplies the 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm bits.
  • Drill Bit Medium Metric Bundle: supplies the 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm bits.
  • Insta-Set accelerant (optional): sets the super glue quickly while you fill the gaps between the ammo racks.

Model Parts

Part Name
C1 Main door
C2 Iron gate
A94 / A95 Front cannon (Breacher cannon)
B37 Front overhang
B3 Front door stoop

You will need to stop at Instruction Manual step 1C. You will need to use the backside of the main door (C1), using the facing from the Conqueror Cogfort (no weapon mount).

Here you will drill into the 3 small holes at the bottom of the main door (Part C1) using your 2.5mm drill bit.

At this step you can choose whether or not you wish to glue the iron gate (Part C2) to the door or not as once the main body is built, you will not be able to attach the gate without further modification.

For the purpose of this guide, I have NOT included the gate.

Build the 2 part front cannon (Parts A94 / A95) but leave the Breacher cannon loose, do NOT glue to Part C1 it will be attached to the Cannonade insert that encloses the front. You will need to glue the cannon into the main cannonade insert at the spots pictured below.

Continue building the main Cogfort body, Instruction Manual 1C to 1G. At Instruction Manual step 1H you will need to build the cannonade insert but keep it separate from the main body. You will then glue the front door cannon to the insert.

This piece will be push fit and does not need magnets to be secured. To remove and attach this part, follow the steps as shown below. The points circled will be the dry fit contact points for the insert onto the front of the Cogfort.

Be sure to glue front overhang (Part B37) slightly higher than shown in the Instruction Manual to allow the cannonade insert to be swapped without issue. Dry fit the insert removal before gluing the overhang.

You will next need to trim corner parts of the front door stoop (Part B3) to allow the main body to be universally swapped. You will need to do several fittings to make sure the part can be inserted and removed smoothly.

Front door stoop B3 with its corners trimmed for a smooth swap

Once this is trimmed down as shown in the picture above, you will need to drill into the back of the stoop (where it would connect to the base of the front door). Using your 3mm bit, drill into the center of each section as shown below.

Three 3mm holes drilled into the back of front door stoop B3

Using the BLUE end of your Magnicator Tool, insert and glue a 3mm x 3mm magnet into each hole you have drilled into the base of the stoop. Magnicator Tool must sit flush against the connection point.

Continue to build the Cogfort main body but you will need to stop at Instruction Manual Step 2B.

Step 2 Building the big guns

At Instruction Manual Step 2B you will need to begin building the upper deck weapons of the Cogfort starting with the Cannonade. Build the front of the main cannon (parts A94 / A95) but DO NOT glue them to the deck mount (Part B89).

Godbreaker main cannon front built and left unglued from deck mount B89

Next you will need to magnetize the upper deck weapon mount. Using your 6mm bit, drill into the center of Part B89, and with the RED end of your Magnicator Tool, insert and glue a 6mm x 2mm disc magnet into Part B89.

The main cannon must sit flush once the magnet is inserted.

The next step of this was probably the most frustrating for me as you will need to combine the 3 ammo racks (Parts C97 / A98 x 2 / A99 x 2) into one piece. I used super glue and accelerant to fill the gap between the racks while making sure they maintained their height and angle per the instruction manual.

Three Cogfort ammo racks glued together into a single piece

Once the racks are glued together you will need to clip the 2 legs from Part C97.

You will then super glue the 1" x 1/4" metal piece onto the clipped leg parts.

1 inch by 1/4 inch metal piece lined up under the clipped ammo rack legs Metal piece glued across the clipped legs on the underside of the ammo racks

Next you will need to clip and remove the pre-moulded legs, that Part C97 connected to, from the upper deck.

Using your 3mm bit, drill through the 2nd clipped leg placement. You WILL drill through the entire deck, the hole will line up with a connection point on the bottom.

Using the BLUE End of your Magnicator Tool, insert and glue one 3mm x 6mm cylinder magnet into the hole you've just drilled, making sure that the magnet is flush with the underside. This magnet will serve as a mag point for 2 connections.

3mm x 6mm cylinder magnet glued into the hole through the upper deck Underside of the upper deck with the cylinder magnet sitting flush

Now drill the 1st mounting point with your 3mm bit, using your Magnicator Tool to insert and glue the other 3mm x 6mm cylinder magnet. Polarity does not matter as it will be attracting the metal plate on the underside of the ammo rack.

3mm hole drilled at the first ammo rack mounting point on the upper deck Second cylinder magnet glued in at the first ammo rack mounting point

Next you will need to place a 6mm x 2mm magnet into the connecting point on the Upper Deck Godbreaker Cannon. Score the interior of the cannon mount with your hobby knife and then lightly score the face of the magnet that will be glued in place using your Magnicator Tool's BLUE end to locate polarity.

Next you will use the RED end of your Magnicator Tool to hold a 6mm x 2mm disc magnet in place and glue it into the interior of the loading port or cascabel. There is a premoulded half ring within the interior, use this as a placement guide for the magnet to be recessed into. I've put a bit of extra glue onto the back of magnet to provide extra hold.

The final step of the Cannonade is to magnetize the rear connection point of Part B96. Score the surface of the connection point like you did with the Upper Deck Cannon as well as the face of the magnet. Using the BLUE end of your Magnicator Tool, glue a 6mm x 2mm disc magnet in place.

At Instruction Manual Step 2G, you can position the shutters for the upper deck ceiling as you wish, they are push fit and do not need to be glued. Additionally, do NOT glue the ceiling to the upper deck as this will stop you from accessing the swappable parts.

Step 3 Putting out the welcome mat

Model Parts

Part Name
38 Support rail
B3 Front door stoop

This part of the guide covers the Conqueror Cogfort and will reference steps from the Cannonade Cogfort as some of the steps overlap.

Follow the Instruction Manual until you get to step 3I, this will have you attach the support rail (Part 38) to the underside of Part B3. To make this part fit and still have the front sections still be swappable, you will need to clip part of the support rail and slide it back slightly then glue in place.

C108 Bellows lever handle
C105 Bellows chain

Adding the Realmscorcher Flame Cannon to the upper deck will be done in a similar fashion to the main cannon attachment.

For the Flame Cannon Bellows (Parts B103 / A104 / A106 / A107 / C108 / C105), you will need to follow manual instructions 4B to 4C. Do NOT glue the Bellows and its chain to the upper deck, build and keep sub assembled as shown below.

Flame Cannon bellows sub-assembly built and kept off the upper deck Bellows and chain sub-assembly for the Conqueror Cogfort, left unglued

Using the RED end of your Magnicator Tool, align the 8mm sphere magnet so that it pulls to the 6mm x 2mm disc magnet that you have placed at the rear of the main weapon mount in the center of the upper deck. There is a premoulded section within Part B103 that the sphere can be glued into.

Next you will need to glue a 6mm x 2mm disc magnet into the interior of the Flame Cannon connection point, using the BLUE end of your Magnicator Tool to guide the magnet into place, through the rear plastic wall.

Magnicator blue end guiding a 6mm x 2mm magnet into the Flame Cannon mount 6mm x 2mm magnet glued inside the Realmscorcher Flame Cannon connection point

For the final step of the Flame Cannon, you will need to magnetize the Bellows Chain (Part C105). Using your 3mm bit, drill into the end of the bellows lever handle (Part C108) and using the RED end of your Magnicator Tool, glue a 3mm x 2mm magnet into the drilled hole as shown below.

3mm hole drilled into the end of bellows lever handle C108 3mm x 2mm magnet glued into the bellows lever handle

Once this magnet is in place, you will need to drill into the connecting point of the bellows chain (Part C105) using a 2mm bit.

After drilling this spot, use the BLUE end of your Magnicator Tool to insert and glue a 2mm x 2mm magnet in place, making sure the Magnicator Tool sits flush.

2mm x 2mm magnet glued flush into the bellows chain connecting point

You will then clip away the small moulded peg on the lower section of Part C105 and using your broad needle file, make the surface level as well as scoring it lightly.

Finally, you will use the BLUE end of your Magnicator Tool and needle file to lightly score the face of the 4mm x 0.5mm disc magnet before gluing it into place where the peg was originally.

This will allow the Bellows chain to be removed when swapping to the Cannonade variant of the Cogfort.
