Cerastus Knight Magnetization Guide & Contents
These are the instructions to fully magnetize the Cerastus Knight kit which includes all three variants: Acheron, Castigator, and Lancer. You are able to swap the heads, shoulder pads, and arm weapons with corresponding ammo backpacks. You will be able to remove the torso from the legs for easier storage.
To assemble this kit you will need glue, files or sandpaper, and a knife or clippers. You will need to remove the 3D printed parts from their sprues and sand (or file, we use the terms interchangeably) the parts to remove the support artifacts. You may need to sand some parts for them to fit together properly.
Please follow the normal assembly instructions as they come with the plastic kit. The instructions below are only for the magnetization of the parts pictured and do not show the full assembly process.
To keep track of the polarity of the magnets, we use a set of Magnicator tools. We may refer to the polarity of the magnets as “red” or “blue,” after which magnicator is attracted to that magnet’s surface. (The normal terms such as North & South or positive & negative are unnecessary here.) If you do not have those or similar tools, ensure you have some other method of tracking a magnet’s polarity. For example, you might color one surface of a spare, large magnet with a marker and reference back to it every time you use a magnet. Possibly attach that large magnet to a tool that you can keep nearby but you won’t need to use; A hammer or wrench, for example. The magnets are obviously made of shiny metal, but in the rest of the instructions, we will show them as red & blue cylinders so we can indicate the polarity.

The three Cerastus Knight types all start with the same base shoulder armor piece A38. It is attached to the torso side by a shoulder ring B30 (left) and B31 (right). From that point, each type has an additional shoulder armor piece placed on top of the base piece. These add-on pieces are parts A40 Acheron, E34 Castigator, and A39 Lancer. This step will show you how to magnetize these additional pieces to allow them to be swapped out.
The Cerastus Shoulder Ring Sprue has two shoulder rings with magnet holes C9L (left) and C9R (right). The Cerastus Shoulder Pads Sprue has parts that allow you to place a magnet in between the base shoulder piece A38 and the add-on pieces. The Shoulder Pad Mount parts, which are mirrored left and right, are C6R/L, C6R/L, and C8R/L.
Glue each of the six Shoulder Pad Mount parts into the add-on shoulder pad armor pieces. Insert and glue a 4mm x 1mm disk magnet into the Shoulder Pad Mount parts, taking care to keep all of the polarity consistent. The left side parts are shown in the picture above.
Glue a 4mm x 2mm disk magnet into the recess on the Shoulder Pad Ring parts C9L and C9R, ensuring the polarity of the magnet matches those in the Shoulder Pad Mount parts as shown. Glue the Shoulder Pad Rings into the torso side B17 & B18 and the base shoulder pad armor A38.
The three add-on Shoulder Armor pieces can now be swapped, as shown below. Note that the Castigator’s add-on Shoulder Armor piece E34 sits on the forward portion of the base shoulder armor piece, unlike the other types which sit in the center.

Each of the three Cerastus Knight types have two arm weapons for a total of six arm weapons. An arm is built from the weapon on up, starting with the weapon being clamped by two pieces of an elbow half A31, which is then clamped by two pieces of a lower bicep A32. The upper bicep A33 & A34 clamps over the lower bicep.
The Cerastus Knight kit only contains enough elbow halves for two arm weapons, so we have provided C1 as enough replacements for all six. To swap the arm weapons, a magnet goes into the new Lower Bicep C2 halves and another into a Bicep Ring C3, which is contained in the original upper bicep.
The picture below shows the full arm assembly. Repeat for all six arms. Note that you will still need to use the original elbow half A31 parts for two of the weapons.
The way the arms are assembled will enable you to have considerable range when posing your models. You can carefully apply your glue to allow all of the joints complete freedom of movement, although picking a favorite pose might yield better results in the long run.

The Cerastus Acheron and Castigator have ammunition stores on the bottom of the rear torso which we will call backpacks. Those backpacks go over the base power pack used by the Lancer B12-B14. These instructions will enable you to swap the Acheron’s backpack G24-G31 and Castigator’s backpack E12-E18 over the base power pack.
Magnets will be held in place inside the base power pack parts with the Lancer Backpack Mount C10.
Insert and glue a 6mm x 3mm disk magnet into each Lancer Backpack Mount C10, and then glue the assembly into Lower Back Side B13 and B14. We have found it easier if both magnets have the same polarity as shown above, with red towards the C10 and blue outwards. Assemble the rest of the power pack with the Lower Back Center B12 as shown in the instructions.
Insert and glue a 6mm x 1mm disk magnet into the sides of the Acheron backpack G24 and G25, ensuring the polarity is compatible with those in C10. Assemble the rest of the Acheron backpack as shown in the instructions.
Insert and glue a 6mm x 1mm disk magnet into the sides of the Castigator backpack E15 and E17, ensuring the polarity is compatible with those in C10. Assemble the rest of the Castigator backpack as shown in the instructions.
Build the rest of the backpacks and cable parts as instructed. We have found that the whole arm and backpack system can be stored as a single assembly for both the Acheron and Castigator Knights.

The three Cerastus Knight types have unique heads. These heads are usually mounted to a Head Clamp pivot A30 which is then mounted onto the Torso Front B16. This step will show you how to magnetize the three heads to allow them to be swapped out.
We replace the Head Clamp pivot halves with C4, which have a pre-made magnet hole. The corresponding magnet is placed into the Head Mount C5.
Assemble each head as usual. Attach the Head Clamp half C4 as shown above. If you only glue C4 to its partner, then the head will still turn. Glue a 3mm x 2mm disk magnet into the completed assembly.
Glue a 3mm x 3mm disk magnet into C5 as shown in the cut-away picture above. Make sure the magnet is towards the front of C5.
The Head Mount C5 inserts into the Torso Front from the back as shown.

To magnetize the Cerastus waist joint, you will need the Lower Waist B15, the Upper Hip B7, two 12mm x 3mm disk magnets and one 12mm x 3mm countersunk magnet. A countersunk magnet has a hole through the center, and one side has a flared, cone-shaped opening. The pictures in this step show the blue side as the side with the flared opening, but it does not matter which polarity is “up” in the magnets you have received as long as you track which one has the flared opening.
The inside of the Upper Hip B7 part has a hemispherical recess, and in that recess, there is a small nub, shown in the pictures as a green surface. The nub makes it somewhat difficult to align the magnet that will eventually go into that spot
The above picture shows a cutaway view of Upper Hip B7, the two magnets, and the nub (shown in green again).
A method that might help is to use the countersunk magnet to help align the regular disk magnet that goes into the recess. Place the 12mm x 3mm countersunk magnet on the outside surface of B7 with the recess facing the dome. DO NOT GLUE. Insert a 12mm x 3mm disk magnet into the cavity of B7, being careful to move the magnet around such that it sits as horizontal as possible. Once it is in place, apply glue around the magnet inside B7 to ensure that it is solid. You can use green stuff or additional glue to help hold it in place.
Glue the 12mm x 3mm countersunk magnet to the outside surface of Lower Waist B15, using the magnet in B7 to help align the magnet. Once that is set, glue the second 12mm x 3mm disk magnet on top of the countersunk magnet for added strength.
NOTE: Parts C11 and CG1 are included for future use.
