Archon Studio did something that every tabletop wargamer wishes more manufacturers would do — they built magnet slots directly into every StarCraft: Tabletop Miniatures Game base. No drilling. No pin vises. No guesswork.
If you flip over any StarCraft TMG base, you'll find a recessed hole designed to accept a 5mm disc magnet. Drop one in, add a small dab of super glue, and you're done. Your marines, zerglings, zealots, and everything else in your collection will now stick securely to magnetic movement trays, metal-lined cases, Really Useful Boxes, or any ferrous transport surface.
What Size Magnet Do You Need?
The magnet you want is a 5mm x 2mm (3/16" x 1/16") N52 neodymium disc magnet. The 5mm diameter matches the slot in the base, and the N52 grade gives you the strongest hold commercially available. At 1.24 lbs of pull force per magnet, a single magnet per base is more than enough to keep even your heavier models locked down during transport.

How to Install Them
This is about as easy as magnetization gets:
- Apply a small drop of super glue into the slot.
- Press the magnet into the hole. It should sit snugly inside the recess.
- Let it cure and you're done.
That's it. No drilling, no hobby knife work, no epoxy putty. Archon built the slot right into the base for you.
Why Bother Magnetizing?
If you've ever opened a carrying case to find a broken antenna, snapped weapon, or chipped paint job, you already know the answer. Magnetized bases let your models grip a metal surface during transport instead of rattling around loose. Whether you're heading to a tournament, your local game store, or just moving your army from the shelf to the table, magnetized bases save you from repair work.
StarCraft TMG is a brand new game system, and now is the best time to magnetize — do it during assembly and you'll never have to go back and retrofit later.
