Maw-Krusha Magnetization Guide (Ironjawz)
The Maw-Krusha kit builds either Gordrakk, the Fist of Gork, or a generic Megaboss on Maw-Krusha. Two very different rider profiles on the same monster. Magnetizing the rider lets you field either without buying a second kit.
What to Magnetize
| Location | Options | Magnet Size |
|---|---|---|
| Rider (saddle) | Gordrakk / Megaboss | 5mm x 2mm |
| Megaboss weapons | Boss choppa / Boss gore-hacka | 3mm x 2mm |
Rider Swap: Gordrakk vs Megaboss
The rider sits in a saddle on the Maw-Krusha's back. Both Gordrakk and the Megaboss are bulky Orruk models with real weight to them, so use 5mm x 2mm magnets for a solid connection.
Placement
- Drill a 5mm hole into the saddle mount on the Maw-Krusha and matching holes into the underside of each rider assembly.
- Glue a 5mm x 2mm magnet into each. These riders are heavy -- 5x2mm gives the pull you need to keep them seated during play.
- Build each rider as a complete sub-assembly before magnetizing. Gordrakk has his unique weapons (Smasha and Kunnin') permanently attached. The Megaboss gets magnetized weapons separately.
Megaboss Weapon Options
The generic Megaboss can carry a boss choppa or a boss gore-hacka. Gordrakk's weapons (Smasha and Kunnin') are unique to his build and don't swap -- glue those on permanently.
Placement
- Drill a 3mm hole at the weapon hand joint on the Megaboss arm and matching holes in each weapon option.
- Glue a 3mm x 2mm magnet into each. Orruk weapons are chunkier than most faction's hand weapons, so 3x2mm is a better fit than 2x1mm here.
- Check polarity twice. Once the Megaboss is assembled, correcting a reversed magnet deep in the arm is painful.
Basing
The Maw-Krusha sits on a massive 160mm base. A single basing magnet won't cut it here. Use multiple 6mm x 2mm magnets spaced around the base, or go with self-adhesive magnetic sheet for full coverage.
Option A: Disc Magnets
- Drill 3-4 holes evenly spaced around the base and seat a 6mm x 2mm magnet in each.
- This gives strong, reliable hold for magnetized transport cases.
Option B: Self-Adhesive Magnetic Sheet
- Cut a piece of self-adhesive magnetic sheet to fit the base bottom. No drilling required.
- Less hold than disc magnets, but much easier to apply on a large base like this.
Tools You'll Need
- Pin vise with 3mm and 5mm drill bits
- Super glue (gel formula preferred)
- Polarity marker -- mark every magnet before gluing
Summary
The Maw-Krusha is a big investment in points and dollars. Magnetizing the rider with 5x2mm magnets at the saddle gives you both Gordrakk and a Megaboss from one kit. Add 3x2mm magnets for the Megaboss weapon swap, and handle the 160mm base with either multiple 6x2mm disc magnets or self-adhesive sheet.
