Triarch Stalker Magnetization Guide

Triarch Stalker Magnetization Guide (Necrons)

The Triarch Stalker has three weapon options that all mount to the same point under the hull: heat ray, particle shredder, and twin heavy gauss cannon. One magnetization point, three loadouts. This is a quick, satisfying project.

Weapon Options

Slot Option A Option B Option C Magnet Size
Main weapon Heat ray Particle shredder Twin heavy gauss cannon 5mm x 2mm

Main Weapon Mount

All three weapons attach at the same central mount point underneath the Stalker's body. The connection area has a decent amount of plastic to work with, and the weapons are medium-weight assemblies.

Placement

  • Drill a 5mm hole into the weapon mount on the underside of the hull and matching holes in the attachment point of each weapon option.
  • Seat a 5mm x 2mm magnet in each hole. The weapons hang below the hull, so gravity works against you -- 5x2mm provides enough pull to keep them secure.
  • If the connection point on your specific kit feels narrow for a 5mm bit, drop down to 3mm x 2mm instead. Check the width of the mounting peg before drilling. Most builders find 5mm fits, but the tolerances vary slightly between production runs.
  • One magnet pair per weapon is sufficient. The weapons are balanced enough that a single central magnet holds without rotation.

Assembly Tips

  • Build the legs and hull completely before magnetizing the weapon. The Stalker's legs are fixed-pose and don't need magnets.
  • The weapon mount is recessed under the hull, which makes drilling a bit awkward. Work with the model upside down and brace it so it doesn't shift.
  • Each weapon option has a slightly different profile, but they all share the same attachment geometry. Test fit all three before gluing any magnets to confirm alignment.

Basing

The Triarch Stalker sits on a large oval base (105mm x 70mm). For magnetized transport, use a Large Thick (6mm x 2.6mm) flush-fit basing magnet. The Stalker is tall and top-heavy with spindly legs, so a strong basing magnet is particularly useful here to prevent tip-overs in transport.

Tools You'll Need

  • Pin vise with 3mm and/or 5mm drill bit (depending on your mount point width)
  • Super glue (gel formula preferred)
  • Polarity marker -- mark every magnet before gluing

Summary

The Triarch Stalker is one of the easiest vehicle magnetization projects in the Necron range. One weapon mount, one magnet pair, three loadout options. Use 5x2mm magnets if the mount fits them, 3x2mm if it doesn't. Add a flush-fit basing magnet to keep this top-heavy walker from tipping in transport.
